Waren viele Fans der Band bereits vor ein paar Jahren geschockt, als Sänger Marc Grewe die Band verließ, heißt es nun:
MORGOTH verabschieden sich bis auf Weiteres.
Wie auf ihrer Facebook-Seite nachzulesen, geben die Mitglieder sowohl organisatorische als auch gesundheitliche Probleme dafür an. Laut Gitarrist Harry Busse waren zudem „nur eine handvoll Konzerte zum 20-jährigen Cursed-Jubiläum geplant“. Das daraus noch 7 weitere Bandjahre + ein Album entstanden, hatte die Band 2011 selber nicht vermutet.
Man fand mit Karsten „Jagger“ Jäger von DISBELIEF einen neuen Sänger und spielte diverse Konzerte, incl. einer Südamerika-Tournee.
Der nun (vielleicht oder vorerst letzte) Auftritt der weltweit geschätzen Band findet am 08. Juni 2018 auf dem Chronical Moshers Open Air in Reichenbach/Vogtland statt. Dieses wunderbare Festival ist aber bereits seit längerer Zeit ausverkauft. Für alle, die MORGOTH dort noch einmal live sehen können, vielleicht ein historischer Abend.

Organisatorische und gesundheitliche Gründe haben MORGOTH dazu bewegt, sich bis auf Weiteres von den Bühnen dieser Welt zu verabschieden. Eine weitere Platte ist nicht geplant. Das letzte Konzert wird am 8. Juni auf dem Chronical Moshers Open Air stattfinden.
Die Entscheidung bis auf Weiteres keine Konzerte zu spielen und auch keine neue Platte in Angriff zu nehmen hat die Band nach reiflichen Überlegungen gefällt.
Sebastian Swart: „Für uns ist es schon seit einiger Zeit schwierig, rein organisatorisch flexibel zu agieren. Dies liegt vor allem daran, dass wir von der polnischen Grenze über das Ruhrgebiet und Hessen in ganz Deutschland verteilt leben. Bei mir kommt noch hinzu, dass ich sehr bald aus beruflichen Gründen ins Ausland ziehe und gesundheitlich mit sehr massiven Gehörproblemen zu kämpfen habe.“
Die Entscheidung bedeutet nicht, dass die Band sich auflöst, vielmehr bis auf Weiteres ruht.
Harry Busse: „Diese Entscheidung ist uns nicht leichtgefallen, ist aber zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt unumgänglich. Ursprünglich waren ja nur eine handvoll Konzerte zum 20-jährigen Bestehen von „Cursed“ geplant. Daß wir im Anschluß noch sieben weitere Jahre aktiv sein würden und mit „Ungod“ noch ein weiteres Studioalbum folgen würde, hätten wir 2011 selbst nicht vermutet. Wir haben diese Zeit sehr genossen und bedanken uns bei allen Fans, Century Media Records und unserem Management Clandestine Music für die langjährige Unterstützung.
Mit dem Auftritt auf dem Chronical Moshers Festival am 8. Juni, haben Fans also nun die vorerst letzte Gelegenheit die Band live zu erleben.
Cursed to leave – MORGOTH say goodbye until further notice!
Organisational and individual reasons have compelled MORGOTH to refrain from any further live activities. A new record is not planned. The last scheduled live show will take place on June 8th at the Chronical Moshers Open Air in Germany.
The band made this decision after careful consideration.
Sebastian Swart: “Since a while it is difficult for us to act flexibly enough as a band. The main reason is that we all live spread all over Germany. My individual reasons are the fact that I suffer from massive and multiple hearing problems, and on top of that, I will be moving abroad for my work.“
The decision does not mean that MORGOTH will permanently split up, but all activities are being suspended at this time.
Harry Busse: “This decision was not an easy one for us, but at this point it is necessary to take this step. The initial idea back in 2011 was to play only a handful of shows to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Cursed“. The fact that we went on for another seven years and would follow with a new studio album “Ungod“ wasn’t something that we had anticipated back then. We really enjoyed this time and want to thank all of our fans, Century Media Records and our management Clandestine Music for their support during these years.“
The show at Chronical Moshers Festival on June 8th will be the last forseeable chance for fans to see the band live.
